A percussion instrument consisting of a round frame covered with animal skin or paper, with a long handle decorated with iron rings that rattle when shaken or struck with a thin stick; also called 单鼓 dān​gǔ or 羊皮鼓 yáng​pí​gǔ.

A traditional folk dance popular in northern China, typically performed by dancers who sing and move while playing the taipinggu drum.
