(literary) a peaceful and prosperous era, especially one under a wise and benevolent ruler; literally refers to the age of the legendary Emperor Yao. Usually used to praise a monarch or an ideal government. Referenced in the Analects of 孔子 kǒng​zǐ in the description of Emperor Yao following the way of heaven.
