Literally "the trees long for peace but the wind will never cease"; used to describe how objective circumstances often go against one's wishes. It is frequently used alongside 子欲养而亲不待zǐyùyǎng'érqīnbùdài to lament that by the time children are ready to care for their parents, the parents have already passed away.
