A major Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in Dagzê County, Lhasa, Tibet. It was founded in 1409 by 宗喀巴zōngkābā, the founder of the Gelug school, and is considered one of the 'three great' monasteries of Lhasa along with 哲蚌寺zhébàngsì and 色拉寺sèlāsì.
