The female protagonist of the famous Chinese legend 梁山伯与祝英台 liáng​shān​bó​yǔ​zhù​yīng​tái. According to the tale from the Eastern Jin dynasty, she disguised herself as a man to study in Hangzhou, where she fell in love with her classmate 梁山伯 liáng​shān​bó. After a tragic series of events prevents their marriage, the two are eventually reunited in death and transform into butterflies.
