A mythical bird from the classic text 山海经 shān​hǎi​jīng who tries to fill up the East Sea with pebbles and twigs; according to legend, she was originally 女娃 nǚ​wá, the daughter of the Flame Emperor 炎帝 yán​dì, and was reincarnated as a bird after drowning.
