A mythical bird from the classic text 山海经shānhǎijīng who tries to fill up the East Sea with pebbles and twigs; according to legend, she was originally 女娃nǚwá, the daughter of the Flame Emperor 炎帝yándì, and was reincarnated as a bird after drowning.
