Northwest Typhoon

西北台 西北颱 xīběitái
Northwest Typhoon
A specific type of typhoon in Taiwan that moves from the sea east of the island toward the northwest. Because these storms pass over the northeastern tip without being blocked by the Central Mountain Range, they maintain their strength and bring intense winds and heavy rain to northern and northwestern Taiwan, often causing floods and seawater backflow.
