Han Yu (768–824), an influential Tang dynasty statesman, essayist, and poet. He was a leader of the Classical Prose Movement, known for promoting Confucianism and opposing Buddhism and Daoism. He is often referred to as 韩昌黎hánchānglí or 韩文公hánwéngōng.
