单弦儿 dānxiánr storytelling to musical accompaniment
A form of storytelling to musical accompaniment originating in the Qing dynasty and popular in northern China; initially performed by one person playing the [[三弦|三弦|san1 xian2]], it evolved into a performance with a singer playing an octagonal drum accompanied by a [[三弦|三弦|san1 xian2]] player.
