A late Qing Dynasty novel by [[李宝嘉|李寶嘉|li3 bao3 jia1]], published in 1903; it satirizes the corruption and dark side of the bureaucracy in the late nineteenth century and is considered one of the Four Great Exposure Novels of the era.
