A county in northeast Taiwan, north of [[花莲县|花蓮縣|hua1 lian2 xian4]] and bordering the Pacific Ocean; originally inhabited by the Kavalan people, it was renamed from [[噶玛兰|噶瑪蘭|ga2 ma3 lan2]] in 1875.
