Huiyuan (Eastern Jin monk)
(334–416) A prominent Buddhist monk of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the founder of the Pure Land school; he established the Donglin Monastery on Mount Lu and is known for promoting the practice of chanting the name of Amitābha Buddha.
Huiyuan (Sui Dynasty monk)
(523–592) A distinguished scholar-monk of the Sui Dynasty, also known as Jingying Huiyuan; he was a prolific author and expert on Buddhist philosophy, specifically noted for writing the "Dacheng Yizhang" (Encyclopedia of Mahayana Buddhism).
