Shenyang, a sub-provincial city and the capital of [[辽宁省|遼寧省|liao2 ning2 sheng3]] Province in northeast China.

The Shenyang (Mukden) Incident of September 18, 1931, triggered when Japanese forces destroyed a section of the South Manchuria Railway and blamed Chinese forces; it led to the invasion of northeast China. Also known as the [[九一八事变|九一八事變|jiu3 yi1 ba1 shi4 bian4]].

The Shenyang Imperial Palace, used by the Qing dynasty during its early years from 1625 to 1644 and now preserved as a museum.
