Imperial Chinese government office for official oversight and impeachment. Originally called 御史府yùshǐfǔ in the Western Han, it was renamed in the Eastern Han and used intermittently until replaced by the 都察院dūcháyuàn in the Ming dynasty. Also known as 宪台xiàntái, 兰台lántái, or 肃政台sùzhèngtái.
