The Bodhisattva of Compassion or Goddess of Mercy, an enlightened being in Buddhism who helps those in distress; also referred to as 观世音菩萨 guān​shì​yīn​pú​sà or 观自在 guān​zì​zài.

A being who has attained enlightenment but postpones Buddhahood to save all suffering beings
