The legendary and mythological rulers of ancient China from the earliest period of Chinese historiography. The 三皇 sān​huáng typically refer to Suiren, Fuxi, and Shennong; the 五帝 wǔ​dì typically refer to the Yellow Emperor, Zhuanxu, Emperor Ku, Emperor Yao, and Emperor Shun.
