differentiation and unification of things
Two famous paradoxes from the Warring States period School of Names. The first, associated with 公孙龙 gōng​sūn​lóng, argues that the qualities of hardness and whiteness are independent of the stone itself; the second, associated with 惠施 huì​shī, argues that all differences are relative and all things are ultimately unified.
