Xu Xi
A famous painter from the Southern Tang dynasty (circa 886–975) known for his naturalistic style of flower-and-bird painting. He was often contrasted with [[黄筌|黃筌|huang2 quan2]] for his free and rustic brushwork, known as the "wild and easy" style in contrast to the courtly "rich and noble" style. He is credited with creating the ink-wash technique for depicting nature.
