智顗 zhì​yǐ Zhiyi

Zhiyi (538–597), a famous Buddhist monk of the Chen and Sui Dynasties and the practical founder of the Tiantai school of Buddhism. He is also known by the title Zhizhe Dashi, granted to him by Emperor Yang of Sui. His major works include the "Tiantai Great Three-Part Treatise" and his teachings emphasize the synthesis of meditation and wisdom
