Yang Xuanzhi, a 6th-century writer and government official from Luoyang during the Northern Wei Dynasty; he is most famous for writing the book 洛阳伽蓝记 luò​yáng​qié​lán​jì (A Record of Buddhist Monasteries in Luoyang), which describes the architecture and legends of the city's temples after they were destroyed by war.
