Jiang Yougao (died 1851), a Qing dynasty phonologist from She County, Anhui; author of "The Ten Books on Phonology" (Yinxue Shishu), he categorized Pre-Qin rhymes into twenty-one groups and argued that ancient Chinese possessed four distinct tones.
