A major Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in Dagzê County, Lhasa, Tibet. It was founded in 1409 by 宗喀巴 zōng​kā​bā, the founder of the Gelug school, and is considered one of the 'three great' monasteries of Lhasa along with 哲蚌寺 zhé​bàng​sì and 色拉寺 sè​lā​sì.
