    Zhili-Fengtian War

    A series of conflicts in the early 1920s between the Zhili and Fengtian cliques for control of the Beiyang government in northern China. The First Zhili-Fengtian War occurred in 1922 and resulted in a Zhili victory; the second occurred in 1924 and led to the collapse of the Zhili power base after the defection of Feng Yuxiang.
