    Eight Friends of Jingling

    A group of eight famous literati and poets during the Southern Qi Dynasty who gathered under the patronage of Xiao Ziliang, Prince of Jingling. The group included [[萧衍|蕭衍|xiao1 yan3]], [[沈约|沈約|shen3 yue1]], [[谢朓|謝朓|xie4 tiao3]], and others whose rhythmic poetic style, known as [[永明体|永明體|yong3 ming2 ti3]], helped establish the foundations of regulated verse.
