(1482–1544) A famous Ming dynasty painter and calligrapher known for his expressive flower and landscape paintings; he was a student of 文征明 wén​zhēng​míng and is often paired with 徐渭 xú​wèi as a leader of the Wu school.

(1159–1223) A Southern Song dynasty Neo-Confucian philosopher and prominent disciple of 朱熹 zhū​xī; he is often referred to as Beixi Xiansheng.
