    Bao Chao

    Bao Chao (1828–1888), a famous general of the Xiang Army during the Qing Dynasty; born in Fengjie, Sichuan, he played a key role in suppressing the Taiping Rebellion and rose from the ranks to become the Provincial Commander of Hunan despite being illiterate.
