The outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere, located above the thermosphere, where light gases can escape into space. Also known as [[外气层|外氣層|wai4 qi4 ceng2]] in Taiwan and [[外大气层|外大氣層|wai4 da4 qi4 ceng2]] in Mainland China.
