An ancient Tungusic people of northeast China and nearby areas, known as the [[肃慎|肅慎|su4 shen4]] in the Zhou dynasty and [[挹娄|挹婁|yi4 lou2]] in the Han and Wei, eventually becoming the [[女真|女真|nu:3 zhen1]] during the Five Dynasties period.
